In September 2017, Lake Park Friends hired TranSystems, an engineering firm specializing in the rehabilitation of historic concrete bridges, to conduct an independent review of bridge restoration alternatives. TranSystems concluded that additional testing is needed in order to do a thorough and complete comparison of restoration alternatives. Their report also indicates that there would be a cost benefit to rehabilitating the bridge, in addition to the unquantifiable benefit of preserving this historically significant structure.
